If you “do” business is synonymous with “building”, basis for business, that sites called ’social networks (Facebook, LinkedIn, Hi5, or MySpace), these are places to find potential opportunities very interesting. But be careful with the theme of the pub.
I know cases of people who have tried to use the list of friends on Face book bombarded with advertisements for events, services or products. Their results have not only been negative but some of their friends now seen less. Others have even lost their access account.
It is easy to understand when people react very negatively to advertising “as a mere male,” That’s what happens on TV or radio with commercials that interrupt a moment of climax of our favorite show. Traditional style of advertising is slowly losing the ability to attract attention in a productive way.
Is Face book a business?
To date the return on Face book is not clear. Although its founders should be happy with the invested capital they have received. Neither it is yet known that it may become a large company like Google, or another failure as that occurred in 2000 nor do that to sell advertising space is effective. That is, Face book users are likely to click on them? However, other smarter people take the nature of “social networking” site to direct marketing with old friends or relatives with whom they had lost contact or with new acquaintances.
They do not bombard your list with advertising but try to do direct contact with the people with whom they can do business potentially and do well if they will apply the basic principles of marketing to build confidence and develop sales.
Others equally intelligent use certain resources of the website, advertising and marketing to make a qualitatively superior. For example:
- Create groups of fans of a particular brand or discuss specific issues that favor.
- Support the marketing of events, create useful references from them.
- Published in the “walls” comments interesting on products or services that we can produce for commercial interest.
- Create “pages” that serve to promote themselves as professionals or to promote your business.
The effect of social network:
Getting customers who share their experiences and emotions on the brand then the business will be much more productive from the viewpoint the paid advertising. This is what we know as the power of “mouth-to-mouth” from customers.
However, the technology of Face book is just a fraction of the marketing work and advertising, and does not guarantee that the effort will work. For example, if you have decided to develop a group of fans of the brand X and the content ends up being a” rehash” too trivial without novelty and poor drafting then it is safer than its reputation and the brand damaging. It means the sites of “social networking” are not automatically transferred to a brand image. The image must be built and that requires different efforts.
The potential of social networks:
The people are there in a “captive” as we say in the world of marketing. You can see their names, faces, and interests. This data is very much helpful in selling products and services. But the effectiveness of marketing and Internet advertising does not depend upon the technology but on the quality of its content. Messages that have an explicit indescribable commercial interest in social networks can also produce rejection. We should take into account the context of social network is not a mall. People do not visit Face book who are looking to buy.
However, if a respected and valued friend makes a comment or recommendation about a product, it is very likely that the message will have a positive influence in the interest of others. In this sense we can say that to support the marketing of a business in the sites of “social networks” requires an effort that combines all the above actions and more.
